Synopsis:
From a producer of the outrageous Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Bubble Boy is the hilarious, laugh-out-loud comedy about a sheltered young man (Jake Gyllenhaal - October Sky) who breaks all the rules on a wild adventure to get the girl of his dreams! Though he`s lived his entire life within the confines of a protective plastic bubble and under the ever-watchful eye of his overprotective mother (Swoosie Kurtz - Get Over It), Jimmy Livingston (Gyllenhaal) never thought that he`d missed out on anything - until the girl next door (Marley Shelton - Valentine, Sugar & Spice) ran off to get married in Niagara Falls! With the wedding only days away, Jimmy has no choice but to build a mobile "bubble suit" and set off across the country to stop the wedding and confess his love to her!

This is your ordinary stupid comedy wannabe. The movie got very bad reviews, but I didn`t know that when I rented it. So, what did I make of it? Well, it certainly isn`t politically correct, but this is probably its only gimmick. It`s not funny nor very interesting and the lead actor has got to be one of the most annoying ones around.
The video transfer is good. There are no compression signs and the picture is clear.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is ok. The surrounds are used occasionally but the soundtrack isn`t very explosive.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary, 2 behind the scenes featurettes, a sing along, an art gallery and some storyboards.
Bottom line - it`s not a total disaster, but still, not a very good comedy.
