Synopsis:
Two twin sisters, Kanchan and Kamini (Rakhee), both might look the same but are very different individuals. Kanchan is very shy and isolated, while Kamini is more open and has much western influences. When Kamini goes on a trip with her mates to the Himalayas she has an encounter with Captain Ajit (Shashi Kapoor) and both end up dating each other, which progresses to love. But through accidental accounts Kamini`s parents arrange Kanchan marriage with Ajit. When Ajit finds out he informs his foster parent Father Joseph (Nazir Hussain) about the misunderstanding.

Finally resolved, much to Kanchan`s despair, Ajit and Kamini get engage and plan to marry. But an incident occurs when Kamini`s ex boyfriend Kundan (Ranjeet), tires to get back with Kamini. But with her refusal Kundan decides to take her by force. When he does so he ends up being murdered by Kamini and she ends up on the run.

Not tuning up for her wedding Kamini parents looks to Kanchan to take her place by marrying Ajit, and at the insistence of her parents she does so. However Ajit hates Kanchan and their new marriage beings on a stormy route. Despite this Kamini plays the Indian wife as she loves her new husband. Meanwhile Kanchan who has now become a gangster`s moll learns of her sister`s marriage and decides to seek revenge...
