Synopsis:
High above the city of LA, a team of terrorists has seized a building, taken hostages, and declared war. But one man has managed to escape detection... an off-duty cop. He`s alone and tired, and the only chance anyone has.

Bruce Willis stars as New York City Detective John McClane, newly arrived in Los Angeles to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia). But as McClane waits for his wife`s office party to break-up, terrorists seize control of the building.

While the terrorist leader, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) and his savage henchman (Alexander Godunov) round up hostages, McClane slips away unnoticed. Armed with only a service revolver and his wits, McClane launches his own one-man war. A crackling thriller from beginning to end, `Die Hard` explodes with heartstopping suspense.

Who hasn`t seen this film? It`s a definite `must-have` for DVD, and I`d certainly buy it just for the film itself. Unfortunately lacking in features though, it should really be 15.99 instead of 19.99.

What i think about die hard
Die hard is absolutelly one of the greatest action movies in the world.it has got very good actors, like alan rickman and bruce willis who can make john mcclane`s role very believeble.very uniq and simple plot with terrorists, cops, heroes, guns and bloody action.finally there`s a villain who wants only money and nothing very special like nuclearbombs, satellite control systems or something stupid.the villain is played by alan rickman and his act is almost perfect, because he`s so realistic normal kind of criminal with common plans.hans gruber`s part is just made for alan rickman.he`s actually one of my favourite villains in movies (like robin hood prince of thieves).the story of die hard is not too far-fetched and it`s own style is presented very clear.there`s enough excitement, shooting and good violent action.one cop against all the other terrorists is a simple and interesting plot which makes you love die hard.the director john mctiernan became very interesting director after the predator and now after the die hard he made his way to my favourite directors.i could say that late of the 80`s was mctiernan`s career highlight and he was the guy who started the legendary die hard trilogy.one of the greatest things in die hard is the special feeling which comes from the actors ofcourse, but also from the script, music and explotions.the script is written so well that many scenes is movie could be replayed thousands of times.music is one of the keys to make exciment into the movie and it`s works perfectly.music is made by once again my favourite composers james horner and michael kamen.if you like action, heroes and excitement then you gotta see die hard.

The transfer
Long time i wanted to see die hard on widescreen and finally they published it on dvd.die hard has got 2.35:1 widescreen and it looks really good and sharp.there wasn`t anything wrong in picture and the colors were bright and clear.some dvd movies has got blue fast lines (die hard 2 the plane crash) or stopping picture (ghostbusters marsmallowman explode), but die hard was an excellent success in damages.the sound is dolby digital 5.1 thx and it sounds very good.sometimes you could just feel like you were in the real action.menus are very nicely made and there`s some smoke coming from the menu selections (there`s also some sounds).special features includes theatrical trailer and quite good featurette where many actors and john mctiernan are telling something about the movie.the cast biography, but it`s not as good as in the die hard 2.die hard has got almost the same extras as die hard 2 had.the main cause why i bought die hard dvd was that the movie is so legendary and it`s maybe even better than the second die hard.this must be one of the best action movies ever released on dvd.

This is one of the best action films ever made and is still entertaining after 13 years despite many imitators. New York cop John McClane is going home for Christmas to spend time with his family. He decides to see his wife in Los Angeles.
Unfortuneatly, a gang of terrorists, led by Hans Gruber, take over the high-rise building in which McClane`s wife works in.
With little outside help, John decides to take matters in his own hands. This great action flick boasts wonderful performances, good story and amazing visuals.

The DVD really does this film justice. There are some very nice menus which are partially animated with sound effects. The anamorphic transfer is superb. I did notice quite a few bits of sparkle but this is only noticeable if you`re quite close to the screen as I was when I watched it on a DVD-ROM. The sound is perfect and all the gunfire, explosions and helicoptors breath life in your home cinema system. The extras are okay for this kind of film. The trailer is one of those show it all previews and is an okay addition. The featurette is only five and a half minutes long but it does contain some nice interviews and behind the scenes footage. One stunt where Bruce Willis has to smash a window with a prop chair takes several takes and in one take he breaks the chair instead of the window. It is a nice addition to the disc although it could be longer. There are also some biographies and filmographies for the main stars of the film.

Overall, an excellent disc with great picture, great sound and reasonable extras. While the featurette could be longer and a commentary by director John McTierman would have been nice, what we get is good enough. And it is available from many online retailers for very reasonable prices. This disc is the best version available so it is highly recommended.

Features:
Trailer- The trailer shows pretty much, everything that happens in the film in a minute and a half. It`s a good trailer but gives to much away.
Filmographies- A list of films the stars have been in. Wow.
Featurette- An interesting and occasionally rather funny five minute featurette containing behind the scenes footage, interviews and the like. Would`ve been a lot better had it been longer.

Overview:
John McClane (Bruce Willis) goes to see his wife, Holly Gennero/McClane in the Nakatomi Plaza building where she works in California when Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), a terrorist, takes over the building to steal millions in variable bonds.

Main Review:
Die Hard is an action genre defining film and is one of the best out there. McClane is a New York cop caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, who tries to stop the terrorists from stealing the bonds from the safe. Throughout the film you hear McClane`s wit, frustrations, emotions and one of the best one liners ever brought to cinema, "yippee ki yay motherf****r." McClane manages to kill a terrorist and gain his radio in which he contacts a policeman by the name of Al. Through this radio, McClane relay`s all his information through to Al who has a gut feeling that McClane is a cop. The film is full of top notch explosions and other action scenes which obviously cost a lot to make. The acting is superb (even Willis) and makes way for one of the best action films of all time. Alan Rickman is a great villain and Bonnie Bedelia is a great hostage. I`d definately recommend this film.

Picture:
Nice and crisp with very little grain.

Sound:
The explosions sound terrific if listened on full blast on 5.1. You couldn`t really ask for more.

Overall:
A great disc with mediocre extras. If you can pick it up cheap, then go for it.

bruce willis is visiting his wife who hes left (know that feeling : ) : )...) in a big building at chrismas but the building is hijacked by terrorists but he escapes. he plays cat and mouse for a while until he steps on some glass with no shoes (he lost his shoes) but he carries on. Then they attack the police outside and a helicopter crashes into the building.SPOILER:
things get worse wehn they find out who his wife is and there is a nailbiting cliffhanger off the side of the building but bruce (he plays a character called john mclane) saves his wife and drops the bad guy (hans gruber) to his death

i give this movie ten out of ten

Die Hard is a amazing movie. It`s about John McClane (Bruce Willis) who is a New York cop who goes to LA to see his wife and family. When he gets to the skyscraper where his wife is employed, he soon finds himself with his hands full because terriosts take over the building who are led by the tough Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) who holds everyone in the building hostage on the 30th floor while his gang intends to rob the millions in the vault. This movie one of the best action movies ever made. The DVD is great, the picture and sound quality is perfect and as for extra features, there`s a featurette and the trailer. Overall this is one fantastic movie. It deserves a 10/10 rating without a doubt.
