Synopsis:
Told in a combination of thrilling real life fight footage, news reel and documentary coverage, and in-depth interviews with the man himself - Muhammad Ali `Aka Cassius Clay` is a true telling of a sporting story that has intrigued the world.
Letting him speak for himself - in and out of the ring - this compelling documentary charts the life of Muhammad Ali (also known as Cassius Clay) from his humble childhood beginnings in Kentucky to becoming the heavyweight champion of the world. An extraordinary fighter, this boxer - dubbed `The Greatest` - had the world at his feet, and a glittering career fighting the likes of Sonny Liston, Henry Cooper, George Foreman and Joe Frazier.
But his religion made him a conscientious objector against the Vietnam War and considered a draft-dodger he was thus stripped of his title and prevented from boxing. His struggle to stay true to himself and his convictions while continuing with his chosen path was as difficult a fight as any he faced in the ring.
This contemporary documentary shows how keeping his faith and the good will of the world he fought to regain his titles and his previous life at the top. Directed by respected fight film maker Jim Jacobs (Knockout, Legendary Champions) Muhammad Ali `Aka Cassius Clay` is the true story of a true 20th Century Hero.
