Synopsis:
Academy Award® Winner Julie Andrews, enchanting newcomer Anne Hathaway and Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman) lead a charmed cast in Disney`s The Princess Diaries, a hilarious, hip and heartwarming modern day Cinderella story. Mia Thermopolis (Hathaway) is a bright but terribly shy and gawky teenager whose goal in life is to survive each school day with a minimum of attention and embarrassment.

Unfortunately her wish to be invisible is thwarted when her estranged grandmother arrives and delivers the shocking news that she`s a real-life princess - heir to the throne of Genovia! Furious and incredulous, the reluctant royal agrees to take "princess lessons" and make the biggest decision of her life - in three weeks. And so begins a comical transformation towards poise and princess-ness when she finds herself in the middle of a media storm, jealous schoolmates and a plot to take over her country. Funny, uplifting and affirming - your entire family will thoroughly enjoy this crown jewel.

Your Opinions and Comments

7 / 10
This is your typical Disney teenage romantic comedy that means nothing for itself, but Andrews` role as a queen serves her right so much.
The video transfer is very good. There are no compression signs nor scratches and the picture is crystal clear.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is good. Most of the movie`s dialog is nicely centered and the surrounds kick in occasionally.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include 2 commentaries, a behind the scenes look, 8 deleted scenes and 2 music videos.
Bottom line - your ordinary teenage movie (with a definite touch of Disney) that is elevated a bit by Andrews` performance.
