Synopsis:
Vijay (Vijay) is a young carefree guy who wants nothing more than to enjoy his life. His father (S.P.Balasubramaniam) is troubled by the open lifestyle his son lives and decides the only way to make him responsible is to marry him off. His insistence and respect for his father makes Vijay agree to marriage with a condition – that after a year he has the right to choose if the marriage continues or ends with a divorce, all depending on his attitude to his wife.
His father, struggling to find a woman who is prepared for that condition finally asks his personal assistant, Priya (Simran), who he has taken a liking to. Priya at first doesn’t want to agree to such silly terms, but with her family`s financial problems, she decides to marry Vijay who is financially secure.
Both marry and begin a very comfortable relationship with each other. While Priya becomes a devoted wife, Vijay begins to take on responsibilities at the office and his friendship and admiration for his wife grows stronger. Vijay’s father feels that the one-year deal looks certain to be quashed. But when the time comes, everyone is surprised that Vijay decides not to continue the marriage.
Priya is more surprised and shattered despite putting so much into the relationship. Society then pours scorn and other hateful remarks upon Priya who agreed to this contract marriage in the first place. When Vijay sees this he realises that what he did was wrong and goes to Priya wanting her to come back to him. But Priya, hurt by Vijay`s decision, decides never to go back to him and lets him know that she is carrying his child...
