A classic movie which is nearly 65 years old.
Yes, it`s charming all right, but the story is too naive for our time and the character development is close to none.
The video transfer is ok, yet not perfect. Yes, this is a well restored version of the movie, but there are still quite a few frames that are not correctly placed and several scenes are a bit out of focus. However, the fullscreen transfer does not suffer from compression signs.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is flat. The surrounds are used occasionally, but not significantly. Snow White`s voice is unique but is REALLY irritating, not to mention that it is nearly impossible to understand the words during her songs. The disk also include dubbed versions in Hebrew, Greek and Russian, which are all DD 5.1 (good for the kids).
The menus are nicely animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary, a behind the scenes look, an interactive game, a sing along and a new version of the theme song from the movie sung by Barbara Streisand.
Bottom line - a classic movie that got a nice treatment, but, alas, cannot match today`s tales.
