This movie traces the steps of Ray Grange who quites his dead end job as a shop clerk to become a roadie for legendary punk band The Clash. Set against a backdrop of the Brixton race riots and counter neo-nazi demonstrations, Ray Grande`s narrative of a man with no future makes compelling viewing.

Intermixed with Ray`s story is excellent concert footage of the band on the verge of stardom in American. Rude Boy is a must have for all Clash fans, featuring stunning live performances of; Garageland, London`s Burning, White Riot, Safe European Home, I fought the Law and Complete Control.

Rude Boy is a slice of British culture. Re issued as a special edition following the sad loss of Joe Strummer, this is quintessentially a product of the era that created Jubilee, Great Rock and Roll Swindle, etc. This works best if you were a) around in 77, and b) a fan of The Clash. As a snapshot of the Punk movement, this works. As a movie, more importantly, a dvd, this falls short of the mark.
