This is a ground breaking DVD, it has the best picture quality so far. The R2 is anamorphic. The film itself is very watchable, the animation is good, the story is a little bit naff but you can watch the film again and again.

The features are not bad, the contrived outtakes are funny. Sound is good with good steering and clear vocals.

My daughter loves this film, and knows the main characters.

The basic film is funny but can be dark.

It is a must buy.

6I`m a bigger fan of old-time animation rather than the new CG one, but still, "A bug`s life" was an enjoyable movie.
While the story was a bit childish for me (being 27 and all), it was hilarious to listen to the 8-languages soundtrack.
The word "transfer" does not fit in this case, since the movie was all digital to begin with. Let`s just say that the video is very nice. Of course, no CG animal is as convincing as a hand-drawn one, but still the characters all look great.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is nice and the bugs` effects are very funny (and sometimes even accurate).
I especially enjoyed the ending titles of the movie, where they include so-called "bloopers" from the production. VERY funny.
I think most kids would enjoy this film. I sort of did. A bit. :)

While I felt that this film somehow missed the magic of Toy Story, it is still a hilarious piece of animation. The visuals are wonderful, and we get some amusing out-takes at the end, although we unfortunately do not get the mass of extras present on the Special Edition 2 disc set.

Overall, great stuff, not quite up to Toy Story standard, (although repeating that formula is no mean feat) - but a great film in its own right nonetheless! Unfortunately, it is a little lacking in the extras department - so probably best to go for the 2 disc set.

A Bug`s Life is a charming tale that makes you see life through the eyes of insects. I think although it is very funny and entertaining, there is an important overall message that is meant to make the viewer twice about squashing or killing insects, because they have lives too. This was released at more or less the same time as Dreamworks` Antz, that tells a similar story in a similar fashion. They are both equally good in their own right. Antz tells the story that dwelves more into a colony of ants, whereas A Bug`s Life looks upon a variety of insects.

Flik is an ant who goes in search of warriors to fight for his colony againts the evil grasshoppers. He then finds his warriors, not realising that they are a circus act.

The first thing that will catch your eye is the exquisite CG animation and the flawless transfer. The transfer is a straight digital to digital one, which means there is no grain or specks of dirt at all. This is simply a flawless picture and is presented well.

The sound is quite a brilliant DD 5.1 The dialogue is clear and legible. The overall quality of the sound produced is great

There are little extras packed into this disc although there is a more superior 2 disc set available. The extras on this disc consists of a set of outtakes and an oscar winning short produced by pixar called Geri`s Game. This is a well made piece of animation about an old man who plays chess against himself.

A good disney disc that is somewhat let down by the lack of extras. Fortunately there is a 2 disc set available that is packed full of extras. Go Buy That

Great movie but this DVD hasn`t got much extras. The special edition is a 2 disc set so go for that if you ever want this movie.
