Review for WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019

TLC 2020 is the final PPV of the WWE calendar. If you watched this you would wonder a few things, namely: Does WWE not have a WWE, Intercontinental, US or Smackdown Women's Champion anymore? Yes, they do still have them, but you wouldn't know from this PPV. However, I can't say that the PPV doesn't deliver with action, but it is far from perfect.

The Ladder Match for Smackdown Tag Team Championship between The New Day and The Revival was a good exciting hard hitting match. It was exactly what I expected from these two teams and I did enjoy all the insane moments throughout and fantastic ending.

Buddy Murphy against Aleister Black was a match I had no expectations for and was hugely surprised by how much I enjoyed it. This could easily have been buried on the Kickoff show or on TV, but instead on PPV it was given the time to breathe and was a fantastic showing from both of them.

The Raw Tag Team Championship between The Viking Raiders and The O.C. really needed a stipulation (a Chairs or Tables match perhaps) to make it a bit more interesting. Instead, this just felt like a throwaway match that could have been saved for an episode of Raw. No one benefited from this match, which is a shame as I usually like both teams.

The TLC Match between Roman Reigns and King Corbin should have been great, but it went on and on and on and on to the point where I stopped caring. Neither superstar is one I generally care about, but the way the match ended was just disappointing.

However, not as disappointing as the next match between Bray Wyatt and The Miz. Not The Fiend and not for the Universal Title. Why? Who knows. This short match was a waste of a really good storyline and the ending could have been left for a an episode of Smackdown. Even the surprise at the end couldn't save what it was.

The Tables Match between Rusev and Lashley should have been a great end to this abysmal storyline. Not to be. This was just another episode of this awful storyline regarding affiars/divorces and wrestling. The match was fine, just not the match I wanted.

Finally, in the main event the TLC Match for Women's Tag Team Championship between the Champions The Kabuki Warriors against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. This was a fantastic match between the two teams and I was amazed by some of the things they did. Usually, I am not a fan of there being two similar matches on the same PPV, but they were smart enough to keep these apart on the show. The match avoided all the usual 'Team of Enemies' not on the same page tropes. Instead this was not just a great women's match, not just a great tag match, but a great match full stop.

TLC 2020 has its moments and is certainly not a PPV that is unwatchable. A few tweaks here and there and this could have been perfect, but sadly the Wyatt/Miz, Raw Tag, Reigns/Corbin and Rusev/Lashley matches just fell short. If you like some high flying action and enjoy some great OMG moments then you will enjoy the ladder matches on this PPV.
