and believes that this is the only way to end the problem. However, leader of the military unit, Captain Rhodes, does not think so and after discovering Bub`s source of nourishment, he kills Logan and takes control. Just then, the zombies from outside break in to get a decent meal. Cue graphic gore effects.
Day of the Dead was not well received at the time of its release but over time, people have re-evaulated it and discovered its merits. It may not by action packed like Dawn of the Dead but it`s still a enjoyable film. It also the goriest of the trilogy and contains some extreme stuff which was heavily cut by the BBFC when first released. Thankfully, this release is uncut.
The picture is 1.85:1 non-anamorphic widescreen and is fairly decent. The film was previously issued on DVD in fullscreen so it is nice to see this version. Generally, the picture is mostly soft and does look a bit washed out. The picture is quite clear at times and all the gory violence can be seen clearly.
The sound is in stereo and is not too bad. There could have been a 5.1 mix but this is good enough.
The menus are static but have the film`s score in the background. There are 3 trailers. The first is for the 30th anniversary edition of Night of the Living Dead. The second is a lengthy one for Dawn of the Dead. And the third is a one scene teaser from Day of the Dead. A photo gallery containing 29 photos from the film`s publicity period is included. A 20 minute behind the scenes featurette is also on the disc. This is quite good and features lots of interesting info. Finally, there are bios for George Romero and F/X artist Tom Savini.
This is not a bad disc. The film is good, picture and sound are decent and the extras are a nice bonus. It could do with a special edition in the future but this will do for now.
