Synopsis:
Johnny Depp unlocks the gates to hell in Roman Polanski’s newest thriller.
Depp stars as Dean Corso, an unscrupulous rare book dealer who is hired to locate the last remaining copies of The Nine Gates, a demonic manuscript that can summon the Devil. Corso becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving murder, theft and satanic ritual, and ultimately finds himself confronting the devil incarnate.

Your Opinions and Comments
Depp`s performance is good, but it cannot compensate for the very slow-paced script.
The video transfer is very good. The colors are beautifully saturated and no compression signs can be seen.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is rather flat. The surrounds are used occasionally, but I would`ve expected a greater usage of them in this kind of a movie.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary by the director, a very short featurette, an isolated music track, a picture gallery and some production notes.
Bottom line - a rather disappointing thriller by Polanski. Rent once and toss it to the fire. :)
