Kevin Costner, before waterworld used to star in brilliant movies like The Untouchables, JFK, Robin Hood: Prince of thieves and this movie here. He shows off both his acting and direction skills in this masterpiece. Superbly shot, this movie chronicles the life of one Lt John Dunbar as he experiences the western frontier and comes into contact with a Sioux Indian tribe. He befriends the tribe and soon learns their language, gets his own name and marries a tribe member. The film is breathtaking and engaging as we observe the lives of these indians before they were driven out of their lands by white settlers. Of course the film is not totally accurate but there is no way in the world it could be.

The dvd is presented well with a crisp widescreen anamorphic picture. The sound also is very good, bringing to life the fantastic score. There are a few decent extras including a commentary, featurette a trailer amongst other things. Im happy with this as its all on one disc and the film is quite long. What would have been better is a 2 disc set with many more extras but this is still decent.

Overall, Brilliant Movie, Great dvd, Go buy it!
