Review for Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks: Summer of Sport
Watch out cos here we come!
That is how my saturday morning used to start when Alivin and the Chipmunks came on. Nearly thirty years later (yes I now feel very old) my children can now experience that same fun with Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks.
This new series sees Alvin and his brothers Simon and Theodore still get into trouble while always avoiding the screams from parent David. They are accompanied by the Chipettes, Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor in the CGI animation madness of fourteen episodes of fun, music and hijinks.
Now with this being CGI the most obvious thing would be to compare it to the very hit and miss feature films, but I would say that it would be better to compare it to the old cartoon show as it really is a fun, selection of self-contained stories and the fact there is over two and a half hours of entertainment here will either be perfect for the kids, or torture for the parents, depending on your opinion of high-pitched voices and singing.
Each episode is over twenty minutes and so perfect for just before school or last thing before bed and the stories are generally harmless fun.
If you have children then they will probably enjoy this. There is nothing outrageous in the show and it is probably between the 5-11 year old age range. Any older and they will probably be wondering where the lazers or the ponies are. The songs are original and catchy and that theme tune is just as infectious now as it always was.
