Your Opinions and Comments

I heard so many good things about this movie. However, after watching it I have serious doubts as to the mental state of the persons who recommended this pathetic movie to me.
The movie has barely any plot and while the cast includes Freeman, this is by far his worst performance ever. The other actors do a dreadful job as well.
The video transfer is average. While there are no compression signs at all, the colors are over saturated, thus making the flesh tones way too yellow.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is adequate. There`s some usage of the surrounds, but nothing too fancy.
The menus are partially animated with some tunes.
The extras include 2 (boring) commentaries from the entire crew, some deleted scenes and 10 chapters from the so-called soap opera in the movie. Nothing interesting here as well.
Bottom line - avoid this movie. It is neither funny nor witty. Actually, it`s nothing else than a total BOMB.

Easily mis-judged after watching the trailer, this is quite a cerebral movie, that has as much to do with emotion and people, as it does with comedic situations. Anyone expecting a laugh-riot will be disappointed, as this film tries to raise the bar a little (in terms of taste) and is succesful for the most part.

The performances are certainly of a higher quality than your average comedy and Greg Kinnear is especially good as the star of the soap. When he errupts on set after Betty`s disastrous screen test, I felt awkward on her behalf!. Chris Rock maybe lowers the tone a bit, and although I`m a fan of his stand-up work, he misses the point here and always plays for laughs (contributing much to the off-key trailer). It`s nothing to get concerned about though, as the film does work as a whole. Most will be surprised by the classy content and dismiss it as bland. I`d hold back from endorsing it aswell, because not everyone will appreciate the objectives here.

The DVD is certainly a good buy, with commentaries and deleted scenes. Nothing fantastic, but definitely value for money. The audio is 5.1 and although the soundtrack isn`t too inspiring (mostly dialogue) there are directional flourishes. The picture is good too and anamorphic (2.35:1).

Nurse Betty is different and hard to classify, I found it quite refreshing and worthwhile. Perhaps we need to learn that a lack of prat-falls and shocks, doesn`t necessarily mean it isn`t funny.
