Blast From The Past (US)

A simple romantic comedy that starts our great, but slows down eventually, yet still doesn`t lose its charm, probably due to the fine acting.
The video transfer is very good. There are no compression signs at all, and both the widescreen and fullscreen versions look good.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is good as well. There are very few sound effects in the movie, but the surrounds are nicely used for ambiance.
The menus are hilariously animated with sound effects.
The extras include a simple "love meter" game and that`s it. Pity.
Bottom line - a cool movie with a nice script and a very cool dancing scene. Give it a try.

A very, very average movie that could have been fantastic, but loses marks for being a bit too far-fetched in places and a bit too sentimental in others. As a fan of the "Happy Madison" produced films, it seems odd to be suggesting unbelievability and sentimentality are flaws, but they have to be at the right time in the film and in the right quantities.

Brendan Fraser is (as usual) very likeable, he brings a degree of charm to his character that his lines alone wouldn`t have managed. Unfortunately his female co-star (Silverstone) is clearly sleep-walking through this one and that`s probably part of the reason she`s nowhere to be seen at the moment.

Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek do their best, but the tone is a bit wayward at times, is it supposed to be believable or totally surreal? it`s hard to say, and even harder to care towards the drawn-out last third. You don`t really believe any of the plot-twists (if you can call them that), or the storyline as a whole, so the entire project feels like a missed opportunity.

The DVD is also very average, and there`s nothing particularly exciting or distressing to report, like the film it`s passable.

Blast from the past isn`t all that terrible and if you`ve nothing better to do, then it is worth watching once. Don`t buy it unless you`ve already seen it though as this is a movie that leaves you wondering what might have been.

Brendan Fraiser is in a bomb shelter with his parents who think the world has ended and he is about to go out and face the world. On his journey to see if there is human life outside of his usual shelter he runs into a girl named Eve and falls for her. This leaves us with some funny outcomes considering his standards after being in a bomb shelter and not experienceing the real world.

The video transfer looks good and sharp on this dvd as well as the sound.

The features on this dvd are just some scene selections, trailers, and a ridiculous game. Not worth getting for the features.

Overall this is a more then ok movie with some laughs and it has its moments. Not worth buying in my opinion but renting it coudn`t hurt.
