Synopsis:
Priya (Preity Zinta) is a high spirited and loveable girl. She is liked and loved by everyone she meets and is the central joy of her father`s (Anupam Kher) and mother`s (Farida Jalal) life. After completing her studies in school, away from home, Priya comes back to her hometown where she begins her first year in college. While at college she meets with Rahul (Saif Ali Khan) which she begins to have a crush on and both become lovers. Priya is unaware that Rahul is a Casanova by nature and she is constantly warned of his character by her older brother (Mamick). But she ignores his advice and continues her relationship with Rahul.

Priya`s life is then turned over when she learns that she is pregnant with Rahul`s child, and after being rejected by Rahul, she refuses to have an abortion and is kicked out by her father.

Now Priya, who has become an outcast in a close minded society, has to stand up for her cause to have her child against all odds. Her only companion is her childhood friend Ajay (Chandrachur Singh) whom has taken a liking to her, even loving her. Priya`s family eventually realizes the mistake they made and decide to bring Priya back and together, with determination, they will help raise the child what ever society thinks...
