Review for WWE Best PPV Matches 2014

Best PPV Matches of 2014 is almost like a condensed look at the WWE's year in PPV and if you can't afford or don't want to purchase every monthly PPV this is sometimes a better option. Here we have a collection of twenty-one matches featuring a nice cross-section of WWE Superstars and soesn't just rely on the main events.

It includes from the Royal Rumble Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt, from Elimination Chamber Six Man Tag between The Shield and The Wyatt Family and Elimination Chamber Match for WWE World Heavyweight Championship. From Wrestlemania 30 they include Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H and Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match between Randy Orton, Batista and Daniel Bryan.

From Extreme Rules we have three matches, oddly the Pre-show match WeeLC between El Torito and Hornswoggle (probably because it was one of the few things people talked about from that PPV), Intercontinental Match between Big E and Bad News Barrett and Six Man Tag between The Shield and Evolution. From Payback US Championship between Sheamus and Cesaro and Last Man Standing between John Cena and Bray Wyatt.

From Money in the Bank they include only the actual Money in the Bank ladder match and not the one for the belt. From Battleground they include the 2 out of 3 Falls Tag Team Championship Match between The Usos and the Wyatts and the Battle Royal for the vacant Intercontinental Championship.

From Summerslam they include Divas Championship match between AJ Lee and Paige, Flag Match between Rusev and Jack Swagger and Lumberjack Match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. From Night of Champions they include the Tag Team Championship match between The Usos and Gold/Stardust, Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho and WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match between Brock Lesnar and John Cena.

Finally from Hell in a Cell they include the 2 out of 3 Falls Intercontinental Match between Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro and Hell in a Cell for Titleshot between Randy Orton and John Cena.

Now I will not (once again) complain about how WWE really should release this in January when all 2014 PPVs have been completed as the lack of anything from the Survivor Series or TLC is a little odd, but I will say that this is a good (if slightly eclectic) variety of matches. Unlike most years when it has basically been every main event from every PPV, this is not the case and surprisingly all PPVs are included and every championship features to some capacity?

I have reviewed all of the above PPVs and so for individual looks at certain matches you may want to go back to the archive, but I will say that this is a pretty good selection. There are obviously some things missing such as Brock defeating Undertaker at Wrestlemania, but considering the negative backlash to it I can understand that. The inclusion of the Lesnar/Cena from Night of Champions rather than from Summerslam at least shows that WWE know when a match didn't work. Granted, the rematch wasn't much better, but enough for it to be worth including. Having only one women's match is a shame as I expected the Stephanie/Brie from Summerslam or the Triple Threat between AJ Lee, Paige and Nikki Bella from Night of Champions.

Highlights are obviously any match featuring Bray Wyatt, especially his Royal Rumble match against Daniel Bryan, Daniel Bryan's two matches at Wrestlemania, the amazing 2 out of 3 Falls tag match between The Usos and Wyatts and the great Divas match between Paige and AJ Lee. There is nothing on here that is unwatchable and even the WeeLC is fine for the comedy value of it.

The Best of WWE PPV 2014 only suffers from having a year end in October, I can never understand why WWE do this. It would be like publishing a calender in October and leaving out November and December. That being said, there is some great stuff here and though 2014 wasn't as strong with the loss of Daniel Bryan to injury and CM Punk to politics, I still enjoyed the majority and this DVD set is a great overview of that.
