Synopsis:
Amazing digital effects plunge you into the centre of a ghastly storm in BATS - a fast-paced, action-packed ride of sight, sound and fear.

When zoologist Dr Shelia Casper is summoned to the sleepy desert town of Gallup, Texas, she finds a community shaken by unexplained fatal attacks by bats. Teaming up with the town`s sheriff, Emmett Kimsey, Sheila has to try and discover why these usually harmless mammals have suddenly become vicious, bloodthirsty killers.

Investigations begin to suggest that someone has tempered with nature, causing the bats to mutate into genetic monsters, swooping down to attack every living thing in their path.

With the only safety brought by daylight, Sheila and Kimsey embark on a daring mission to stop the growing tide of bloody devastation before night falls and the bats search out more and more of their prey...

A fun movie about killer bats. Is it possible? Sure. It`s very enjoyable. Of course, the plot is not too deep and the acting not that great, but the special effects are cool, the sound is nice and the tension is high.
The video transfer is very good. There are no compression signs at all. The numerous dark scenes are rendered beautifully. While the CG bats look great, the mechanical ones look pretty pathetic.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is very good. The surrounds are extremely effective during the bats flight scenes.
The menus are all static.
The extras include a nice commentary, a short behind the scenes look, an isolated music score, a photo gallery and some storyboard and SFX comparisons. All in all, the extras are good.
Bottom line - a fun horror kind of a movie which can be very enjoyable if not taken too seriously.
