This is your ordinary "black guy against the racist white system" kind of a movie.
While the leads are both very good, the plot is not entirely coherent and the movie is a bit long for the average viewer.
The video transfer is very good. There are no compression signs at all, and the visuals (both underwater and above the surface) are presented very nicely.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is surprisingly good. Being a drama rather than a thriller, I did not expect the soundtrack to be so good, but it is. The soundtrack makes a good usage of the surrounds and the dialog is always clear.
The menus are all beautifully animated with sound. Do notice, however, that you can get sea sick from watching the menus.
The extras include a commentary, a behind the scenes look, 12 deleted scenes (including a bad alternate ending), an animated storyboard and a music video. All in all, the extras are good.
Bottom line - This movie is, in fact, enjoyable, but only if you are into your regular "black guy against the racist white system" genre. And quite frankly, I think I`ve seen enough of these movies.

Inspiring true life tale that is portrayed very well. Cuba Gooding Junior and Robert De Niro were great. Superb visuals for a couple of the underwater scenes. However I would agree with some others that it might slightly drag on a little bit and doesn`t stand out as one of the better coloured man meets racist man pictures.
V Good nonetheless and a worthy addition to my bulging collection.
