this bond movie failed in 89 so badly we had to wait 6 years before the next having gone up against heavy competition from batman indiana jones and ghostbusters.but this is easily the best bond film of the 80`s.dalton is more flemings bond than moore or connery was.more violent more realistic this was sadly overlooked however on dvd this kicks other dvd up the khyber.this is superb .and its uncut for the first time in this country.in 89 the censor was going to give the movie a 18 unless a cut was made .they agreed and so it became a 15.but now its the full movie

Assuming that the print used to master this DVD was the same for every single copy then sadly the film is still shortened. This time however it may not be the BBFC`s fault. The distrubutors may have trimmed it as a recent showing of the film in Italy (who don`t often cut anything) Licence to Kill was this version. ITV showed the full uncut version before the watershed during the last Bond season.
This version is missing brief shots in the most violent scenes, including one in the Felix Leiter/shark scene. (you don`t see his leg missing below the knee turning the water red)
Also Dario`s and Sanchez`s final scenes both shortened.

The film itself is one of the best in the Bond series. A gritty realistic thriller not something you usually get with a Bond movie.
Robert Davi`s baddie is excellent and Timothy Dalton shows us what Ian Fleming`s 007 was really like.
Great stunts and action sequences throughout which are covered in some excellent bonus material on the disc.
2 commentaries made up of interviews with cast and crew are informative also.
Video and Audio superb but not up to todays standard.

Not the best bond film but I love the quality of picture and sound.

Extras have been excellent as the film is the only let down
