Synopsis:
Top UFC light-heavyweight contender Rashad Evans returns to the Octagon to face off with another top contender, knock-out specialist Thiago Silva.

Evans had hoped to face rival Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson in this New Years bout. However Rampage quit the UFC in order to become a movie star and now Evans faces the prospect of seeing stars courtesy of the Brazilian Silva.

Indeed, it was Silva that knocked out Evans's friend and training partner Keith Jardine in his last bout and Evans will be hoping to gain a measure of revenge - and a step up the light-heavyweight ladder - with victory here.

Also on the card British striker Paul 'Semtex' Daley returns to face ju-jitsu black belt Dustin Hazelett. Daley proved why they call him Semtex with an explosive victory over Martin Kampmann at UFC 103, he will be looking for a repeat performance here.

Young guns Joe Lauzon and Sam Stout collide in another interesting match-up. Also, Dutch slugger Gilbert Yvel returns to fight heavyweight contender Junior Dos Santos.

UFC 108, on January 2nd 2010 promises to provide all of the New Year fireworks.
