Your Opinions and Comments
This movie tells the story of two friends who seek the legendary city of El Dorado.
The video transfer is superb. There are no compression signs at all. The colors are strikingly bright and beautiful. They are all well saturated and the gold actually looks like gold (very difficult to achieve in animated movies). Some of the scenes include the best looking CG water I`ve ever seen.
The DTS and DD 5.1 soundtrack are both very good. The dialog is always clear and the effects use the surrounds very nicely.
The menus are all animated with sound and look great.
The extras include a good commentary by the directors, a read-along feature (very good for the kids), a music video, some production notes and a behind the scenes look. All in all, the extras are very good.
Bottom line - a very nice story, stunningly presented, easily enjoyable for both adults and children. Go for it.
It must be noted that the animation by dreamworks and the picture quality simply is amazing. They have come up with some great big budget animations recently like Shrek, Spirit, Prince Of Egypt, Antz and this is by no means lacking in quality even though it was a straight to video release.
It also features great voice performances from famous people like Rosie Perez, Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh and Armand Assante. The catchy music was done by the same oscar winning team that did The Lion King- Tim Rice, Elton John and Hans Zimmer.
The extras provide a little something for everyone. For adults there is an audio commentary, an elton john music video, behind the scenes featurette and production notes. For Kids there is a PC game demo, read along adventures and many more hidden treasures of interactive fun.
Overall, great stuff
