The fact that Armageddon is about America saving the world (again), with no help from anyone, although I think the Russians lend them some screwdrivers, would normally have put me right off this movie. However: The effects are outstanding - check out those shuttle flight sequences - and it`s optimized for wide screen. I`m also quite fond of the soundtrack and the fact that Willis doesn`t take himself or the role too seriously - I admit it would be hard for any professional actor to sincerely deliver the line "The President of the United States of America has just asked us to save the world - are you with me?", and thankfully Willis doesn`t manage it with a straight face.
It also rates quite highly with me because it makes my wife cry - "That`s no salesman - that`s your Daddy" - usually signalling the start of the waterworks, and being a Sadist, I like watching my wife cry.
Off to swap her contact lens solution for table salt again.....

In summary, and as armageddon off the subject (sorry) - Well worth a watch and does stand repeat viewing, maybe three times - but then leave it for a year - trust me...
