Bachelor Party In The Bungalow Of The Damned

I don't know what it is with American culture and bachelor parties - there isn't the same love for stag nights in Britain as there are few, if any, movies about your 'last night of freedom' despite it being a huge industry (the only one that comes to mind is the TV film Staggered).  This is one of the many bachelor party films of recent years and the first I've seen in the horror genre. 
 
Best man Sammy persuades his friend Gordon to let him use his uncle's house in the Hamptons for Chuck's bachelor party.  Gordon is the uptight type who most of his friends suspect is gay and has a crush on Chuck whilst Sammy is the egregious type who is warned by Chuck's fiancée Michelle not to let anything happen.  More or less ignoring the advice, he arranges for three strippers to come and they prove to be more than just exotic dancers, sidelining in prostitution and vampirism. 
 
Not only are the women vampires but the house is cursed, as is illustrated by the owner of a local bars reaction when Sammy asks for directions.
 

Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned (great title) is pretty much a one man show with Brian Thomson doing virtually everything and even joking about the fact in the credits, giving himself the role of 'Burnt Out Shell of the Man He Used To Be'!  Thomson is a pretty skilled writer, he knows story structure and blends horror and comedy quite well with some decent lines and outrageous set pieces - there's one involving a Jacuzzi that reminds me of a Chuck Palahniuk short story.
 
The actors acquit themselves pretty well and the actresses playing the stripper/vampires clearly aren't shy - there is enough nudity and gore to check the boxes for a low budget horror.  Though incredibly silly it's an enjoyable movie which belies its financial constraints and it has a From Dusk Till Dawn feel to it, although in a much more limited scope.

Picture and Sound
This was obviously filmed in 1.78:1 but comes in a 1.33:1 frame so everyone and everything is a little taller and thinner than they should be - setting your DVD player to 4:3 and letting your TV 'stretch' the picture eliminates the problem but it's an terrible error in the authoring. 
 
The picture is clear with good colours and the vampire effects are pretty good with decent prosthetics though the CG blood leaves a lot to be desired and the camera could do with being a little steadier.  The sound is also good on the clarity front.
 
Final Thoughts
Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned doesn't set out to be a masterpiece and met my expectations.  It's a fun film and though there is nothing after the credits, they are worth reading as they are quite amusing, Brian Thomson thanks Eli Roth, Robert Rodriguez and Kevin Smith and their influence on his filmmaking is quite clear.
