Review of Last Fast Show Ever, The: Volume 1

7 / 10

Introduction

Well, if I am honest I have only recently really got `into` the fast show, initially being put off by its origins as ditched characters from the Harry Enfield`s show. So it`s with a little sparked interest that I attempt this review.

The Last Fast Show Ever. Hmmm, well this one`s a little bit way, a little bit wah as some sod has made off with about 40 minutes of it.

Still what you get is the best bits of the last mini series of the fast show that the BBC aired over the Christmas period and in fairness the missing 40 minutes are properly best left out as they just seemed to be there to get the show up to it`s air time.

Video

The DVD is offered up as an anamorphic Widescreen print that, for the most part, offers a good clean image with some little evidence of softness and grain but nothing to get worked up about.

Audio

The audio is an unremarkable Dolby stereo affair but why that should cause a problem is beyond me, it`s comedy so it`s mostly dialogue driven anyway.

Features

You get some nice touch extras but nothing of real substance. Some alternative sketches, some in jokes and that`s about it. You also get some funny alternative menus that seem out of place when there are no other major extras to back them up.

Conclusion

This final homage to the show really does show what was good about it and there are some really memorable sketches in there, there is also some real bad ones but most of these seem to have been cut by the BBC for the DVD release.

If you`re even a casual fan and you missed this over Christmas then run down to your local shop and get a copy, you won`t regret it.
