Review of Naked Chef, The Jamie Oliver

7 / 10

Introduction

I love cooking. My other half hates cooking. Therefore I seem to cook a lot..... I`ve always subscribed to the `chuck `em in a pot` cooking style and so when this series first aired on the BBC I watched it avidly. I was initially worried that a dvd of a cooking programme would have little to offer, but the BBC have obviously put some thought into this issue.

Video

Looks like a good quality tv broadcast, nothing to write home about - but perfectly adequate. It`s shown in standard 4:3 resolution, I guess it was filmed that way :)

Audio

Dolby Digital stereo, no surround but then I`m not sure I like the idea of surround in a cooking programme, you`d get the feeling it was you in the pan.......!

Features

Not a lot but those that are there are what makes this actually a useful cooking accessory. You can play the whole series, choose an episode or (and this is the good bit) play a specific recipe. You get the list of ingredients too and it`s all presented extremely clearly.

Conclusion

When combined with the book this becomes the complete cooking package and is much more fun that Delia Smith and somewhat less earthy than Nigella Lawson. Without the book it`s still excellent. Recommended for budding chefs everywhere.
