Introduction

In the heart of Borneo's rainforests the future is looking bleak for the red-haired "people of the forest". But, thanks to pioneer Lone Droscher-Neilsen, and her team at B.O.S. (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation), a groundbreaking new project has given hope to orphans of this captivating yet mysterious species. The Nyara Menteng Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre is relocating 35 young Orangs to a protected 100-acre island where they can roam freely while learning how to survive in their natural habitat. The lively, endearing bunch of furry friends include the loveable Cha Cha, the mischievous "Bandit Boys", scrappy Daisy, Jasmine and the moody Chen Chen. They are transferred to the island, so that they can overcome their traumatic past and learn to live free from the helping hands of the humans that they have become reliant on.

Video and Audio

Hmm.

Sadly, once again reviewers get a short straw. A single DVD-R with a few episodes on. And those episodes are presented with a non-anamorphic 1.78:1 widescreen transfer, which looks kind of ok, but you can't be sure if the final version will be better.

We also get a DD2.0 stereo soundtrack, pretty much as first broadcast, and perfectly fine technically.

Afraid I have no idea...

Conclusion

If you like Orangutans then you'll love this series. It's interesting, educational, informative and also fun.

I'm afraid I can't tell you very much about the finished DVD based on the DVD-R I received. It will probably be ok, but no guarantees on that.
