See you Jimmy!
Introduction
I have previously described Jimmy Carr as a Marmite comedian, as most people either love him or hate him. Most of the people I know seem to hate him, but I do know of one or two fans.
He arrived in the public eye as a presenter on various Channel 4 shows, following a good start to his stand up career. This is his fourth live DVD, capturing his 2007/8 show, filmed earlier in 2008.
Video and Audio
We only got a DVD-R to review, but the video and audio are probably very similar to the final disc, and there's nothing to complain about here.
Features
Once again, with only a DVD-R to review, we don't get the full package. We do get "Carrtoons", a specially commissioned 36 minute animated feature featuring various animated Carrs performing excerpts from various "meet the audience" slots on different nights of the tour. Some of the audio is not of the highest standard, but this is a new way of presenting extra bits from the tour (which is something that has also featured on previous DVDs).
I can't tell you about:-
Carrtoons Comic Strip - nine bespoke cartoon comic strips.
Alternative subtitles - Scouse, Glaswegian, Polish, Australian and Welsh
Conclusion
As with the other Jimmy Carr DVDs, this is quite an easy decision. If you hate Jimmy Carr, you`ll be avoiding this like the plague. If you like Jimmy Carr, chances are you'll already own the previous three DVDs and want to get this one.
If you're not a fan, but not in the hate category, then you might want to check this out. I think Jimmy Carr is a very funny stand up comedian. Yes, he can be a bit sneery, with a bit of a "looking down the nose" attitude, but at the end of the day he knows about jokes, and how to pack a show with them.
A funny DVD, and one that I enjoyed a lot. As ever, your mileage may vary...
