Review of QI : Series B

9 / 10

Introduction

QI is a superb mix of intelligence and comedy, mixing cold hard facts with supreme comedy genius.

It`s a panel game hosted by Stephen Fry, almost always with Alan Davies and full of quite interesting things and very interesting panelists including Bill Bailey, Hugh Laurie, Rich Hall, Jo Brand, Meera Syall, Rob Brydon, Jeremy Clarkson, Jimmy Carr, Phill Jupitus, Sean Lock, Clive Anderson, Danny Baker, John Sessions, Jeremy Hardy, Linda Smith (in some of her final TV work) and Dave Gorman.

Points are deducted for being obvious (and wrong) and awarded for being interesting.

Video

A 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer, as first broadcast, and just as good if not better than that broadcast.

Audio

Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, again as broadcast.

Features

Some excellent extras here too - some additional bonus facts, out-takes, extra bits, and a full hour of audio on each disc containing corrections and additions to the original broadcasts. Kind of like an audio commentary, but not quite.

Also the ability to hear the individual buzzer sounds from each contestant from each show, or as a montage. Odd, but mildly amusing.

Conclusion

QI is superb, and one of the very best programmes that television has to offer us nowadays. If you like any of the following:- trivia, mad facts, comedy, then you`ll probably already be an avid fan.

If you haven`t heard of the programme (for some bizarre reason) then I suggest you check it out as it`s just very funny.

With a cast including some of the funniest people alive today, such as Bill Bailey, Hugh Laurie, Rich Hall, Jo Brand, Rob Brydon and Jeremy Hardy, and Linda Smith (one of the funniest people ever but sadly no longer with us) it`s a joy to watch.

Hurrah for QI and RIP Linda.
