Review of REM: Parallel
Introduction
`Monster` and `Automatic for the People` aren`t my favourite REM albums but they include some outstanding songs such as `Bang and Blame` and `Nightswimming` and the excellent `Everybody Hurts`.
This dvd contains videos and short films relating to songs from the aforementioned albums in typical REM style.
Video
standard 1.33:1 is presented because this contains made-for TV music videos and that`s the resolution they are meant to be in!
Picture quality was excellent throughout, no speckling or other obvious artifacts.
Audio
PCM stereo words well and sounds as good as my cds of the same albums. Like all REM it likes volume to get the best out of the music.
Features
Other that some very useful lyrics, there`s a weird `ABC of REM` at the end that`s just, well odd.
The dvd menu is slightly dymanic, but that`s all you get.
Conclusion
Well, you get cd quality music and excellent quality video - which is more than the VHS version gives by a long way. If you don`t have the albums, this is a great way to get the best bits with some strange videos thrown in for your eyes to enjoy.
