Review for Son of Perdition

5 / 10

I'm very sorry to say that I didn't manage to see this book through to the end.

This book, looked promising, the cover seemed engaging and the blurb seemed exciting.

On opening the book however I was suddenly thrust into a an introduction of more then a dozen characters within the first few pages.  Not only that but on the first two pages, mysterious group after group was mentioned and I admit I struggled to keep up.

However, there is certainly lots of detail in the book. The author piles on the detail and so it makes every aspect of the scene unfold before your eyes.

In my opinion the main flaw of  the book is the introduction of so many characters at once. Also just as your getting to know the character, it switches to a completely different time and place and introduces more characters.

On the other hand, the author as an eye for detail including quirky mannerisms for the characters and lots of description of the settings.
