Review for Coaching to Solutions
I found this book easy to read and very practical. It gave me enough theory to satisfy my needs as a practitioner (although someone wanting lots of psychological theory and evidence for why coaching works and alternative theories of behaviour change will need to look elsewhere).
As a practising facilitator, there were many aspects which were familiar, but with that special twist of being described from the perspective of a one-to-one conversation.
It was refreshing to read about Pemberton's approach of having very rapid coaching conversations when the opportunity arises - perfect for line managers and others in organisations who have many opportunities to intervene. Although this approach is less relevant for external coaches, the conversational structure which she puts forward can be used in formal scheduled situations too.
