Rick Mofina grew up in  Ontario, Canada. He now works as a an author and a communications advisor, after spending three decades as a journalist. I'd never heard of hime before, but this is his 9th book.

Corporal Daniel Graham, of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Major Crimes Unit in Calgary, is down by the river contemplating the death of his wife when he sees a young girl struggling in the current. He dives in to save her and gets involved with a case which opens up around the girl and her family.

Maggie Conlin is a mother of a boy who has gone missing, abducted by his father who has recently returned from a job in Iraq driving trucks. After recovering from an ambush during a mission, the father met Samara, who lost her own husband and child in Iraq. She has vowed vengeance.

Will Daniel solve the case? Will Maggie find her son? Will Samara mete out the justice she seeks?

This was a very good book which moves along at a very good pace. It is slow to start, because there are many characters to set up, but once they have been "prepared" then things start to gather pace. It's much like an episode of 24, only a bit more believable. The obvious comparisons are with Ludlum and Forysthe, with a slightly more modern plotline.

Recommended for thriller and conspiracy fans everywhere - a fast paced read that will bring Mofina to the attention of many more people.
