I have always enjoyed Grisham's legal books with their pace, good plotting, interesting characters and great endings.

But this book - at over 490 pages - was just a slog. Far too long
Once the pattern of behaviour of the main character and his relationship with a rather disreputable police and legal system was established, the final result was predictable.

That the story was true compelled me to get to the end, rather like reading the many histories of George Bush's presidency, you know the result. I

If you are to tell the real story it has to be adapted as in the film Apollo 13, to read like a novel. Truth in novel form can work but this didn't for me.
