Warning : don't read this!

1 / 10

Ok, it's now officially a three way between this book, The Quickie and Cradle and All (aka Virgin) for the worst Patterson book that I've read. I wanted to stop reading several times, but just the knowledge that I was near the end and that something worth reading about might happen kept me going once more...

I think that I was actually warned about this book a few months ago, but that warning must have slipped by as I picked it up last week and hoped to find an exciting new story.

I read a lot of mystery/thrillers (probably 40 or 50 already this year), and I've read a lot of Patterson too, but it appears that some of his recent work has turned into a game of "how out there can I make a book and still get people to read it?"

Just like The Quickie before it, this book takes far too many liberties with a reader's intelligence and has a feel of a cheap daytime TV film about it. In fact the books are very similar in lots of areas, and I started having flashbacks to that awful book during this one!

I appear to be one step closer to giving up on Patterson, something that many people I know have already done.

If you've not read Patterson before, I suggest that you start elsewhere, this is not a good place to begin.
