Synopsis:
Following a fatal accident involving an inexperienced climber, Rescue team member Gabe Walker (Sylvester Stallone) flees the mountains and his girlfriend Jessie (Janine Turner), having lost his nerve. A year later he returns to try and coax Jessie to leave the Rockies too. She refuses and instead, when a blizzard descends, she persuades him to help rescue some stranded climbers whom she can't reach in her helicopter. Gabe's fellow rescuer turns out to be bitter former partner Tucker (Michael Rooker) whose girlfriend was the woman that Gabe failed to save, and the "stranded climbers" turn out to be a gang of vicious thieves whose aeroplane crash-landed in the mountains, along with their loot. The gang, led by Eric Qualen (John Lithgow) need Gabe and Hal's knowledge of the mountains to find their money. Gabe and Hal are well aware that once they succeed, they will be paid off in bullets.
