Review of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

7 / 10

Video

This DVD contains both the pan and scan and the 1.85:1 widescreen versions of the film, on opposite sides of the disc. The film is split into 26 chapters.

The film has a yellowish tinge throughout it`s run, but picture quality is generally good. Several high speed camera techniques are used throughout the film, mainly on the action sequences.

Audio

The 5.1 audio makes good use of the rear channels and the subwoofer - particularly at the card table scene when Nick turns over each card one by one! There are many recognisable songs throughout the film.

Features

You get both versions of the film on this disc. Also a short set of interviews with the cast, and the original theatrical trailer is included. The whole package is wrapped up in nice animated menus. Unfortunately my copy was supplied in one of those horrible plastic easily breakable CD super jewel cases.

Conclusion

This film did very well at the box office, especially in the States and this disc is one of the best sellers this year. The plot twists and turns throughout the movie. Once again a low budget British film does well as it has a good story, rather than relying on dazzling special effects.
