Review of Ready Teddy Death
Introduction
Yes, you read that right. This is a DVD featuring teddy bears being burnt, mowed, shot, blown up and squashed. Why?
Video
I`ve had 2 versions of this disc to review - one had a 1.78:1 non-anamorphic transfer, the other had an anamorphic version. Both look very reasonable given that this is very much a home-made project, and there`s no real fault with any aspect of the picture. I suspect that the anamorphic transfer is found on the final release.
And the picture is just teddy bears getting abused in various ways, that`s all there is.
Audio
A DD2.0 soundtrack which just consists of atmospheric music and some sound effects when various things happen to the bears.
Features
On the second review copy there were deleted scenes and a "behind the scenes" feature, which wasn`t really behind the scenes at all. Just more of the same basically.
Conclusion
This review is short and sweet, but that`s because I`m lost for words. What`s the point of this DVD? It seems like an extended version of a vaguely amusing 1 minute insert in some cable TV show like Brainiac. You could be amused by it for a minute, but who wants to watch teddy bears being mashed up for 40 minutes? Maybe if you need to traumatise some children?
A pointless DVD, but at least it`s been well put together, and shows that even amateur film-makers can come up with a credible DVD nowadays. A shame that the content is so tedious.
