Review of I Know What You Did Last Summer

2 / 10

Introduction

I Know What You Didn`t Do! Produce a decent DVD ! I`ll talk briefly about the film itself later, but this disc is without doubt the barest I`ve seen. Just 12 chapters of film, nothing more.

How can anyone justify releasing such a bare-bones item?

Video

An uninspiring 2.35:1 transfer (non-anamorphic and it doesn`t look stunning). You`ll find anamorphic transfers on just about all of the other copies of this film (R1, R4 and the other region 2 copies). Can I say something nice ? Well, some of the night scenes look ok.

Audio

A Dolby Pro Logic soundtrack (with no other audio options and no subtitles) is included here. Admittedly it is quite good as Pro Logic goes, but not including a DD5.1 track again reeks of laziness. Most of the other region 2 copies have it (e.g. the Dutch one) as do the R1 and R4 copies.

Features

None at all.

Conclusion

So with such a dire disc, what about all those 1s and 0s encoded on it ? Well, the film itself was pretty run of the mill stuff, personally I was pretty bored by it all ! It`s just a rehash of loads of 1970s slasher pics.

Please avoid this one, or rent it if you really must see it. Don`t waste your hard-earned cash buying the thing!! If you must, then at least get the R1 version - an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, a theatrical trailer and an audio commentary by the director.
