Review of Exploited, The: Rock And Roll Outlaws

1 / 10

Introduction

If there is a bottom of the barrel to be scraped in terms of DVD content, then this is a case of scoring the floorboards under the barrel. Rock and Roll Outlaws documents punk band The Exploited, while Sexual Favours comprises live gig material of the band "at its raw best".

Video

Much of this disc comprises transfers from amateur videotape, so picture quality is not a strong point at the best of times. However, digital artifacts and frequent heavy pixellation of the image cannot be put down to the source material and poor authoring and reproduction of the disc must be blamed.

Audio

Personally I find punk music to be that of the unapologetically untalented. Listening to this disc I`m reminded of that bit at the end of Bill and Ted`s Excellent Adventure when Rufus returns with the Princesses and a couple of guitars and the boys demonstrate their music skills. These guys really need to learn how to play those things.

The sound mix is a flaccid DD2.0 that further demonstrates the low quality of this disc.

Features

There`s an additional interview if you can call that an extra, and an insert sheet in the box.

Conclusion

Unless you`re a fan of such things, you could only be disappointed by this disc. Picture quality-wise, you might as well be watching a VHS tape, and there`s little to recommend it otherwise.
