Review of Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles
Introduction
Most of you can probably survive with the two doses of Croc Dundee already out there collecting dust down your local Blockbuster video store. Some of you might want to give this one a quick look because it is very similar in style to its predecessors. And the law of averages makes clear that there will be the odd, and I emphasise odd, one or two who will have been waiting and salivating over the prospect of a Croc Dundee Episode III more than any Spiderman, Star Wars or Lord of the Rings movie. Well this little gem beats them hands down! With some spectacular special effects, great one-liners and a never ending supply of top-notch brand new and totally original gags from Mr Hogan.
Of course I`m lying. That was just a bit of filler to make the review look a little longer and it`s all obviously total rubbish. And that`s just what this movie is, a simple rehash of old ideas from the first two, which it has to be said aren`t bad movies. The problem here is that during the long, long, long break between 2 and 3 Mr Hogan has lost his charm. He still fails to understand the American language with some alarmingly unfunny situations. And yet again we resort to Croc. D. saving the L.A. but this time from shady Hollywood movie makers with a hidden agenda. He also gets to use his unfeasably large knife on many comedic occasions....totally hilarious, not!
Video
The Picture is presented in 16:9 (anamorphic widescreen) and for such a bad movie is very good. Pin sharp imaging with little or no noticeable digital artifacts. The contrast level is superb and colours are bright and vivid. Menus are static.
Audio
The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is not bad. The sound fidelity is clean and the front stage is used well with some great panning effects. Dialogue is a little stilted and needed a volume tweek on my system to bring it in-line with the fronts. The rears are used sparingly for ambient music and effects.
Features
Just the usual Trailer and Profiles. You should get the first two movies on the disc as hidden extras!
Conclusion
A terrible third generation movie. The sound is good but not great. The picture is amazing for such a poor movie. One to pass by unless it`s in a bargain bin for a quid!
