Review for WWE Money in the Bank 2021

After last years madness it is great to be back to normal with the Money in the Bank matches. However, this set is once again victim to the Spoiler Cover where not only are the Money in the Bank winners revealed, but also the shock reappearance of John Cena against Roman Reigns. If you have a terrible memory (like me) you will facepalm at all the outcomes being spoilt by the cover art, but this is something I expect.

The Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match featured Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Asuka, Nikki A.S.H, Liv Morgan, Zelina Vega, Natalya and Tamina. This was a fairly entertaining match with everyone knowing their place and so it did not feel as awkward as other matches. I was surprised by the winner and to be honest I am still not sure whether it was the right person. I am glad that it was someone new, but I'm just not sure they made the right choice.

AJ Styles and Omos defending their Raw Tag Team belts against The Viking Raiders was fine and WWE are doing well to build Omos as such a monster which has been great. The teams worked well, bit it felt more like a Kickoff or TV match

The WWE Championship match between Bobby Lashley and Kofi Kingston was possibly one of the worst matches I have sat through in a long time. Have WWE forgotten how much people love Kofi or that he was WWE Champion two years ago? I don’t mind Lashley winning, buy this was essentially a squash and not even a fun one it just annoyed me and was a complete waste of time.

Rhea Ripley defending her Raw Women's Championship against  Charlotte Flair was a great match spoilt by the ending. I have never hidden my dislike for Charlotte, but Ripley needed a longer run to show how important she is to the women’s division. The fact this wasn’t followed by a cash in was also a shame as it could have left a better taste in the mouth.

In the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match we have Kevin Owens, Riddle, King Nakamura, Ricochet, John Morrison, Big E, Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. This match featured only three previous WWE World Champions and so it really did feel like an injection of fresh blood. There were some great moments throughout and I was surprised and happy with the ending.

The Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Edge was fantastic between the two and I was stunned by how great Edge still is. There were a number of amazing moments throughout and I really enjoyed this match. The ending was simply electric (spoilt by the cover) I’m not sure the right person won, but seeing John Cena shocked everyone.

There are no extras on the disk which is a shame, considering what happened the next night on Raw, but I can understand if they couldn't fit anything else on. Like many WWE DVDs, this is not an essential purchase but certainly not somehing that is a waste of mpney
