Review for WWE Elimination Chamber 2020

7 / 10

The Elimination Chamber potentially will go down as the final WWE PPV of 2020 with a live audience. It is very strange to watch this and hopefully this will be something we can see again when we get back to whatever the 'new normal' will be.

This being the final PPV before Wrestlemania it usually means that most of the matches are designed to set up matches for the Grandest Stage of All. However, very few matches at this PPV had much of an effect on that PPV with only the Black/Styles and Women's Elimination Chamber setting up a Wrestlemania match. However, this was one of the most satisfying PPVs in a long while.

The event started with a great match between Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak. This was a good technical match, but had very little bearing on anything. Though it was great to see Daniel Bryan putting on a clinic with Gulak.

The match between Andrade and Humberto for the US Championship was also a great match between the two and the push of both has been great to help make the US Title mean something.

John Morrison and The Miz vs. The New Day vs. The Usos, Heavy Machinery vs. Lucha House Party vs. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode in the first Elimination Chamber for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship was a fantastic match and I enjoyed the way all six teams worked together. As with most Chamber matches it was filled with crazy moments and was one of the best showings from the tag division in a long time.

The No DQ Match between Aleister Black and AJ Styles was a great match. I do wish the stipulation meant more as it just seemed like an excuse to have Gallows and Anderson to be involved, but the involvement by The Undertaker was fantastic.

Raw Tag Team Championship match between The Street Profits and Seth Rollins and Murphy was a good match between the two, though I am not too keen on the two teams. The match had its moments, but notvery memorable.

The 1 on 3 Handicap Match for the Intercontinental Championship with Braun Strowman defending his title against Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura was a bit disappointing. This should have been an explosive match and a way to show the dominance of Braun Strowman, instead the other team were just cheap and the ending felt this way too.

I have to say that the Elimination Chamber for a Titleshot against Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania should have been fantastic. Instead, it was very disappointing. Of the participants Asuka, Liv Morgan, Shayna Baszler, Natalya, Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan only Asuka and Shayna Baszler are the only ones who had a chance of winning. That being said, this match was just a mess. Having the winner bulldoze through EVERY SINGLE one just destroyed the entire women's division.

The Special Features includes a Kickoff Match between The Viking Raiders and Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder which was fine, but nothing special and designed as a Kickoff match and meant nothing at all.

Three extra sections one from Raw and two from Smackdown are also included. These include the Contract Signing for the Women's Elimination Chamber and Intercontnental Championship. I don't understand why someone in WWE thinks this is entertaining. Though the twist of the Intercontinental Championship was great. The Moment of Bliss with nWo being interrupted was fine, but not worth rewatching. The lack of any extra matches is a shame.

Elimination Chamber 2020 was a very satisfying PPV until the ending. If they had put the tag Elimination Chamber on last I would have come away from it a lot happier. If you want to see some great matches and one of the last times we heard the WWE Universe cheering then this is a great PPV.
