Review for WWE Hell in a Cell 2015

Hell in a Cell was once one of the scariest matches in the WWE. It was the match to end all feuds. Now it's just a match on a PPV like the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber matches. This year the match that had all the hype was ten rematch between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker. This was their third match after Lesnar breaking the streak at Wrestlemania 30 and Undertaker's controversial win at Summerslam. This was the match to prove who was the best and it feels like every other match on the card, even the WWE Championship was just an afterthought.

In a surprise redebut Alberto Del Rio took on John Cena for his US Championship. This match was ok, nothing special, but not an awful match or anything.

Roman Reigns against Bray Wyatt in a Hell in a Cell was a pretty grey match and certainly my match of the night. The feud and build to this match was fantastic and the action throughout was great. It is a shame this wasn't involving the whole Family, but still a great match.

The Dudley Boyz against The New Day for the Tag Championship was a fun match and wasn't relying totally on nostalgia. I do think it should have ended better, but it felt like a great Old Skool style tag match.

Charlotte against Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship was better than the month before. Though not by much. Again Charlotte needs to stop overselling and it makes watching her feel very awkward.

The WWE Championship match between Seth Rollins and Kane was fine. That's really all I can say. The stipulation and story going into made no sense (like 2000 WCW Russo No Sense) but the action was fine. Granted we are talking about the world championship match here?

Ryback against Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental belt was just filler. At less than six minutes long there was simply not enough time for this match to mean anything. Maybe should have been a pre-show match instead.

Finally, we have Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker in one of the most overhyped matches of all time. Yes, the build was great with the whole "Go to Hell" tour with Lesnar having more presence during this time than he had the last year combined.

As for the match? Well, I've seen better. In fact, I have seen much better. Both are fine, in general, but it just feels like this match had no real direction. The violence you expect from a Hell in a Cell, especially from these two, was absent. One point Lesnar starts ripping up the paper-thin canvas of the ring. Now I understand the logic of this: Expose the wooden surface of the ring, but the very idea that it would cause more damage makes no sense. At least when you take off the turnbuckle you expose the spikes underneath? The match ends and to be honest I didn't care in the slightest. When the time comes to do Top Ten Hell in a Cell matches, this match will not be in it.

Hell in a Cell 2015 was not a bad PPV, I just feel the main  event buckled under the hype. The WWE Championship match was almost meaningless and really the only match I would want to watch again would be the Hell in a Cell between Reigns and Wyatt. That being said it is not a bad PPV and certainly watchable, I'm just not sure whether there is enough to warrant a repeat viewing.
