The great thing about home releases is getting to see things your local multiplex isn't showing, and the great thing about Artificial Eye is they release a constant stream of great interesting foreign cinema.

Out on both DVD and Blu-ray this coming 24th March is Rama Burshtein's Israeli based drama Fill the Void, starring Hadas Yaron, Yiftach Klein and Irit Sheleg.

Alas no details on extras yet, but we can tell you the recommended retail price will be £15.99 for the standard definition version and £19.99 for the high def release.

Synopsis and trailer follow...

Eighteen-year-old Shira, an Orthodox Hassid living in Tel Aviv, is looking forward to marrying a handsome, promising boy of her own age. But when her elder sister dies in childbirth and the father considers leaving Israel to re-marry, Shira’s mother proposes a union between her daughter and son-in-law to keep her only grandchild in the country.

Shira must then make the terrible choice between her heart’s desire and her family duty.

Oops, well spotted! I think the fact the press release said, "As tense and gripping as any thriller" made me think it was.
