Review for WWE: TLC 2012
This is one of those PPVs that really should be awesome. In some ways it is and some ways it isn't. Due to the absence of CM Punk we are lacking the wonderful performance we know he can do and as the last PPV of the year it is a shame that it couldn't end with a bang instead of limping into the new year which is what this event feels like.
As usual the Divas match between Eve and Naomi is awful and given such a short amount of time that usually when I comment the entrances are longer than the match I'm exaggerating... this time I'm not! The US match between Antonio Cesaro and R-Truth is fine in general, but feels more like a match you would see on Superstars and not a PPV. The Intercontinental match between Kofi Kingston and Wade Barrett was no better.
This is not where the suck ended the bizarre tag match between The Miz, Alberto Del Dio and The Brooklyn Brawler (Yes you read that correctly!) against 3MB (Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal) was just that. Bizarre. It was also less than four minutes long? It's hard enough to connect with one person within four minutes, six? Impossibe!
These four matches lasted twenty four minutes altogether! In comparison the main event between Cena and Ziggler was longer. Sure, it's the main event and deserves more time, but if you don't treat a match like it matters, then why should anyone care?
Big Show vs Sheamus for the World Heavyweight belt is fine in general, but nothing special and not like any of their previous matches. The whole concept of The Chairs match is flawed and in a time of no shots to the head and no blood allowed seems utterly pointless. The Tables match between Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow)and Rey Mysterio/Sin Cara was an average tag match and wth a bit more time could have been the match of the night. Sadly it was just an average tag match.
The TLC match between The Shield (Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns) against Team Hell No (Kane and Daniel Bryan) and Ryback was a pretty good match and finally a match given the time needed to make me care. Some great action and everyone involved got in some great offence.
John Cena in a Ladder Match against Dolph Ziggler is most definitely the best match of the card and certainly one that deserves to be in the main event. Of course I have seen better ladder matches, but this was great with some exciting moments and any time I have a chance to look at AJ is a bonus.
TLC is a PPV that proves without a shadow of doubt that if the match is less than ten minutes (unless there is a reason or it's the Ultimate Warrior) it will probably suck. This PPV had so few highpoints that it is hard to find any positives to recommend. Most of the matches were too short or just not entertaining enough to want to watch more than once.
