Two weeks to go to the big day. And you’re still looking for gift ideas aren’t you? Here are some of my favourite items of the year that you might want to purchase for friends and family...

If they have a lot of old recordings lying around on cassettes, this is the ideal device to get them digitised before they wither and die tucked away in that cold and miserable loft. More details in my full review here:-

Gemini JoyTab

In the market for an Android tablet? This one was pretty impressive when it was on test during the summer, and Gemini have released some new models since then with improved processing power.

The 2012 Olympics DVD

Few could argue when Lord Coe stated, “We lit the flame, and we lit up the World”. Watched by record TV audiences, Danny Boyle’s Opening Ceremony was just one of the many highlights of the historic, heart-warming and truly fantastic London 2012 Olympic Games, which united and enthralled the nation.

The London 2012 Olympic Games DVD collection features Danny Boyle’s re-edited version of the entire Opening Ceremony and a unique audio commentary from director Danny Boyle and writer Frank Cottrell Boyce (certainly better than some of the commentary on the night). This fascinating DVD extra feature offers an insight into the artistic direction and creative execution of one of the most watched television moments in recent history.

This five-disc DVD release also offers The London 2012 Closing Ceremony in full, and over seven hours of sporting highlights presented by Sue Barker and featuring the BBC’s unrivalled commentary team. Relive all of Team GB’s electrifying medal-winning victories and watch the sporting action from The London 2012 Olympic Games; from the first gold medal-winning performances by rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning to the imperious time trial by Bradley Wiggins. Who can forget thrilling moments such as Michael Phelps’ record 19th Olympic medal, Katherine Grainger’s long awaited gold, Andy Murray’s emotional victory, Usain Bolt’s 100m Olympic title or the amazing ‘Super Saturday’ when Ennis, Farah and Rutherford all won track and field gold medals in the space of a few glorious hours of each other.

This release is available in the UK on DVD RRP £29.99 and Blu-ray RRP £34.99.

Adrian Mole DVD

Another highlight of the year for me, this wonderful piece of nostalgia. Some of my favourite books, and proof that ITV can make good TV when they have proper authors writing stories! Full review here:-
