50th Anniversary Lawrence of Arabia gift set coming to DVD this November

There are many classics, but few as epic as this one,  Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the release of the Lawrence of Arabia: Collector's Gift Set on Blu-ray for this 12th November.

Widely considered one of the greatest and most influential films in the history of cinema, David Lean’s epic masterpiece is celebrating its 50th Anniversary as a limited-edition, four-disc affair. The director’s cut was meticulously restored by in 4K at Sony Pictures’ Colorworks from the original negative.

With a runtime of 227 minutes and a recommended retail price of £69.99, this includes a newly re-mastered 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack. Extras will include overture, intermission, entrance and exit music, a picture-in-graphics track, which allows the viewer to become immersed in the world of Lawrence of Arabia and learn about the customs and rituals of desert existence, Peter O’Toole Revisits Lawrence of Arabia featurette, The Making of Lawrence of Arabia featurette, A Conversation with Steven Spielberg featurette, The Camels Are Cast featurette, In Search of Lawrence featurette, Romance of Arabia featurette, premiere newsreel footage and advertising material.

Now all those were part of last year's original Blu-ray release, but here you get two additional discs on top. The first includes a new deleted scene with Anne Coates, interview with Martin Scorsese, more trailers and TV spots, In Love with the Desert featurette, Lawrence at 50: A Classic Restored featurette, King Hussein Visits Lawrence of Arabia Scene featurette, Wind, Sand and Star featurette, archival interviews with William Friedkin, Sydney Pollack, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.

The second additional disc is a CD soundtrack with the original score and two previously unreleased tracks. The box set also contains an authentic 70mm film frame and 88 page coffee table book.
