A Sports GPS Revolution?

Satsports have teamed up with GPS manufacturer Holux to launch a truly revolutionary new handheld GPS for sports, offering unprecedented freedom and flexibility for the user.

The All Sports GPS is the world's first handheld GPS to use Google's Android operating system and also the first GPS with Wi-Fi capabilities.  These two features combined allow the user to download any GPS app from the Android Market wirelessly to the GPS without the need for a laptop or a cable - just like a phone - something no other handheld has been able to offer.

The All Sports GPS is a rugged, highly sensitive, IPX 6-rated unit that comes pre-installed with a suite of state-of-the-art sports GPS apps for golf, skiing, snowboarding, biking, geo-caching and more.  For athletes who train with heart rate monitors, cadence monitors and power meters, the All Sports supports both ANT+ and Bluetooth models.

According to spokesman Cory Leis, Satsports sees a strong future for a product like the All Sports, thanks in part to the popularity of the smart phone:

"Instead of replacing the dedicated handheld GPS, we've found that smart phones have actually created a market for a product exactly like the All Sports.  As more and more people use GPS sports apps, the more people realize the limitations of their smart phone: they're fragile, not waterproof, expensive and have a fraction of the GPS sensitivity and accuracy of a dedicated device.

We think the All Sports is the logical choice - choose your sport, choose your software, choose your heart rate monitor - it's all about freedom."
